On June 21st 2022 The Florida Governmental Utility Authority was honored at the Pasco Board of County Commissioners Meeting for the Reading of the Resolution of the 13th Annual Water Awareness Poster Contest. A selection of winners spoke at the meeting and shared their thoughts and positive experiences on the Poster Contest. Every year there is a joint outreach program between Pasco County Utilities and the Florida Governmental Utility Authority (FGUA) that educates students, grades K-5th, about the importance of water, and water conservation, with a topic that changes. We received over 1,212 posters, and had 35 teachers across 11 elementary schools participate, within the Pasco County School District. Participation was made possible through our program website where you can find more information at, WaterContest.org. Students were given the opportunity to learn about “Water Awareness” and how water gets clean with Drippy, the Program Mascot, “Do your part, be water smart”.
Through the generous contributions of our local community partners, each of the winning students were presented with admission passes and gift cards to several of the following attractions: Clearwater Marine Aquarium, Lane Glo Family Centers, The Lift Adventure Park, The Toy Jungle, Mimi’s Doughnuts, and Urban Air Adventure Park, as well as a trophy for placing in the contest. Chick-fil-A of Trinity and Cold Stone Creamery & Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory donated free items to each participating student in the contest.
The 2022 program saw continued support and participation from local community partners by working directly with local organizations and businesses. For more information on how an organization or business can become involved in future contests, please visit: https://www.watercontest.org/contact-us.
