The FGUA participated in the Tenth Annual Wings Over Water Festival held February 4th at the Harns Marsh in Lehigh Acres.
The community festival celebrates Southwest Florida’s natural resources and includes an array of educational programs on local waterways and wildlife. There is an abundance of wildlife at Harns Marsh. Lehigh Acres Municipal Improvement District (LAMSID) provides tram tours of Harms Marsh and the West Marsh throughout the morning. Activities included Touch a Truck Alley with many agencies allowing for exploration of emergency response vehicles, garbage trucks, airboat and heavy equipment. Rubber Duck Races, Inaugural Kids Fishing Derby, Adam’s Animal Encounters featuring educational talk and live animal showcase. The Lee County Sheriff Ice Cream Response Team was on site providing free ice cream cones and the Rotary hosted a Farmer’s Market.
The Education Tent showcased various exhibitions and vendors tables. The FGUA table featured the “Water Cycle” with giveaways including water cycle bracelets, coloring books, rain gauges, toothbrushes and brochures on water conservation tips A fun time was had by all!
